Oh Joe, you ol' rabble rouser. We've been through enough experience with NAMI to know the best way to deal with the delusional is just to agree with them and they will simply forget and go on to their next rant. As far as those that believe those delusional ramblings, perhaps Monterey (and even Pacific Grove) are better out without their visits. Let them visit more up-right places, like Las Vegas!
Also, Mr. Cao, needs to get his history correct! Lover's Point was never called, “Lovers of Christ Point.” That's a myth. It was always "Lovers Point" the name comes from a late 19th century novel where two lovers meet at the point!
Once a "myth" is in black and white it is self-perpetuating.
Years ago, Monterey Public Librarian Jeanne McCombs (who lived in PG until her death 2021) researched the name of Lovers Point extensively, and wrote an article that was published in the Pacific Grove Heritage Society's publication "Board & Batten" debunking the myth of the word Jesus in the name of Lovers Point. Librarian Jeanne McComb's extensive research found the original name "Lovers Point" in print many times for decades before the word "Jesus" was attached to it.
(Mr.) Pat Hathaway told me that as a teen, Elmarie Dyke was like a surrogate grandmother to him and that prim & proper Elmarie (a Methodist and a school teacher) was not fond of the name Lovers Point thus she added the word "Jesus" to the point's name. Elmarie Dyke aka Mrs. Pacific Grove!

Rousing rabble is an odd thing to do, I suppose.
I’m trying real hard to not snicker at a buffoon named Hung Cow. Well-endowed bovines have no business wading into the wicked wickedness of Wiccans.

Maybe I do too. I checked with the Monterey County Historical Society to verify, but I'll *always* defer to Tim! https://mchsmuseum.com/local-history/historic-places/pacific-grove/
When I was trying to figure this out as a reporter, I was told that "Lovers" was not possessive because it was originally call Lovers of Jesus.
Thanks for this. I shoulda known Elmarie Dyke was involved somehow!
Whoops. I mistakenly deleted your comment Gin Donohoo! Sorry.

I take offense that he would be given a key to the city…. Now maybe some of us would consider a … itchy rash that will last awhile…
As a Pagrovian, I just can't stop laughing ... hahahahahahahahaha
What?!! LOL!!! I happen to know several local Wiccans (not to mention Rotarians), and they are fine, upstanding, gods-fearing people.
Hilarious! Thanks Joe 😂
